Positives
- Sammie Lee Hill is going to go down as one of the great steals of the 2009 draft. In another year or two, this guy is going to be a solid player and with some better talent around him, he has Pro Bowl potential. Not bad for a 4th rounder.
- Joe Cohen was absolutely outstanding when he was in the football game. I can’t believe I’m saying this but he may already be our best defensive lineman. He was making things happen from his DT position.
- Zach Follett is Larry Izzo. That’s a very very good thing for the future of Lions special teams once the incompetent Stan Kwan is relieved of his duties.
- 4th down stop??? Might as well call it getting “DeAndre’d”! He’s been unbelievable in clutch situations early in his career.
- Stafford’s accuracy was much better today than it has been to this point. Either he worked on it or his knee injury was indeed bothering him more than he let on.
Negatives
- Aaron Brown is a surprise inactive for the game. While he hasn’t been great, I’d like to see him get another shot at returns and he should be active instead of 2 fullbacks.
- On the other hand, I have no problem with Cliff Avril being inactive. He’s been awful this year and has shown no progress since last year. He’s getting a much needed wakeup call this week, so lets hope he responds.
- I’m pretty sure we can put 5 year old children on our offensive line and they’d have done a better job blocking Ray Edwards and Jared Allen. Matthew Stafford is going to be very sore tomorrow. I lost count at 40 on the amount of hits he took.
- Did the Lions pass defense ever miss Louis Delmas. The 1 or 2 plays per game that they actually make are always made by him.
- FOX’s obsession with Brett Favre is sickening. There are thousands of other players in this league. Let’s see a spotlight on someone other than Favre.
- Unbelievable drop by Bryant Johnson at the end of the first half which cost us a TD. That can not happen in the NFL. Pathetic excuse for a WR.
- Brandon Pettigrew needs to get better hands. He’s dropping way too many passes week after week. I have a feeling the good Deacon will have much more to say on this tomorrow.
- I was disappointed to not see Jerome Felton get the ball more in the running game. I think he could have punished the Vikes LBs in one on one situations.
- Stephen Peterman had an absolutely atrocious game. He was missing blocks left and right and whenever the Lions ran to the right side, there was a loss or nothing gained on the play.
- The amount of injuries suffered in this game must be some sort of record. I don’t ever remember seeing so many guys go down on one team in one game. I think this might finally be the year the Lions strength & conditioning staff gets the heave-ho.
- I don’t think the Lions every believed that they could win this game. You could see it in their eyes that they played scared, especially on offense.
